The first day of filming was great. We were at a house in Chellaston, Derby; filming with the great actor Ian Reddington (Coronation Street, Shameless, Benidorm, Casualty, The Bill, Eastenders etc.) who will be acting in the film. I couldn’t believe my luck; one of my all-time favourite characters from Corrie is involved in this project. He is a friend of the director Kal Lashman and they had been waiting to work together for years. I was asked to check the rooms to see if certain furniture can be moved and check that the 80’s dance book that was a prop was upstairs in the right room. Me and the other production assistants watched on the monitor in the kitchen as the acting took place in the front room, it was great watching all the different takes and angles of the camera. I listened to what the director’s had to say; giving tips to the actors and asking them to do it again but “in this way”, which was essential as the next take was always better than the first; everything needs to be just right in filming, so retake until its right. The actors were brilliant and it was great fun. We all sat outside and had a curry at lunchtime and then the filming began again. Had to have a picture with Ian before he left, it was a must!
