Shane Meadows Film/Mocumentary Le Donk and Scor Zay Zee review

Shane Meadows low budget comedy mockumentary is about Le Donk, a roadie helping out for the Arctic Monkeys gig  (or the Arctical Monkeys as Le Donk calls them) at Old Trafford Cricket Ground, Manchester. Le Donk is managing a new act called ScorZayZee ( played by a real-life rapper Dean Palinczuk). This film is undeniably funny, just in the way Paddy Considine brings the character of Le Donk to life. Another fantastic performance by the Considine. He manages to get a slot for ScorZayZee to headline the Arctic Monkeys whilst he flees back to see his new born son (conceived on a  drunken one night stand) and as they have split up the animosity between Le Donk and her new younger lover is hilarious. He acts as though he isn’t bothered about the kid, saying that it’s not like the old days, I can see it when its 18, even though he kicked up such a fuss about her new lover being the birthing partner. Meadow's portrays a man who has no morals but the character of Le Donk seems to go through a transition. He realises his responsibilities and decides to go back to see his new born instead of headlining the Arctic Monkeys (a massive sacrifice for Le Donk) he does go back to do the set and the film ends on a happy note. Le Donk has the same character or personality as the likes of Alan Partridge, giving the character a familiar feel. The appearance of the Arctic Monkeys was a nice touch, as they are so well known and liked. Meadows had created a funny narrative with a strange moment when ScorZayZee reveals he has converted to Islam and he states the first chapter of the Koran. This film was shot in 5 days, and the footage captured on those days made for humorous viewing. The arguments that Le Donk causes between the production team (especially the women) is hilarious, and these hissy fits he has, is what makes Le Donk's character so funny. Meadows follows Le Donk on his journey from Le Donk’s flat in Nottingham to Manchester, Old Trafford Cricket Ground, at the Arctic Monkey gig. The improvisation is brilliant and the fans at this gig must have had a great experience; I would have loved to have been there. Having seen the Arctic Monkeys myself; this would have been the best gig ever. Has anyone else seen this film? What did you think?
