East Midlands Today Work Experience
Well this week has been eventful. I spent two days at East Midlands Today and completed research and location shooting. I went to the pensions protest at Nottingham's Forest Recreation Ground and it was load and proud. They had a lot to say to the camera and a lot to share with each other. There were even small children joining in with the chanting and protesting. "Cut Back Fight Back". They believe that pensions should not be reduced as this will not help workers in the private sector. One man stated that the only way to help workers is to fight for our pension rights. Hundreds of strikers were at the rallies in Nottingham and it was a fun and eye opening day. There were mixed views at the protest and one man was disgusted by the strike he stated that if he has to pay a pension then why shouldn't every one else, he was not happy. He was stuck in traffic after all, due to the strikers. I had a great day at the BBC and I can say that they are a great team of people who work hard to achieve the best news program they can. I hope to be returning in the summer as I enjoyed the experience so much. If you can get work experience at the BBC then this will not only look good on your CV but it will also helped you build further skills needed for jobs in the future. Video of the protest will be posted soon. In the meantime check out the BBC website for more information on the protest.
